This unit and the lessons within it are designed as an introduction to videography. In the first two lessons, formal assessment is only important in terms of student engagement and learning. As such, the assessment criteria are largely based on observation and interaction. The students are being encouraged to be experimental and to attempt things in which they may fail. If failure is a potential outcome as stipulated by the criteria of the lesson, a negative assessment for that outcome is illogical.
The students are evaluated in terms of engagement with the process. They are also evaluated in terms of participation and effort. The Individual Videography project, which is third in the series of lessons, will be evaluated on the production of a finished product as well as the process which led to its creation.
